The Honda is leaking something and I’m looking to replace it. I’m planning on driving down to Iowa to look at a 1997 Lexus LS400. Anything I should look out for ? VIN below if anyone would be so helpful as to check the carfax JT8BH28F0V0082288

Does it have new tires?
Does it look like anything is leaking?
How is the heater?
How is the AC?
Are all the bulbs working (interior/exterior)?
How are the body panels? Do they fit well?
Does it look like anything is leaking?
Is the interior clean?
Just random stuff.

The Lexus appears to be incredibly clean

It's super clean, and I would get new tires as it would be a quasi winter beater.

Brakes are good? No squealing?
How about the steering wheel while braking? Any shimmy?
How about from going lock-to-lock? Is the steering making any noises?
Are the fluids clear? Brake master cylinder should look like ginger ale (or as close to as possible). Coolant should be clear, not dirty looking.
Wiper blades work? Did you open and close all the doors?

Build out a list of all the items that need to be checked off when taking a look at it.

I was more asking for any things specific to the LS400.

I’ve got a 210 e430 you can have. You know, just in case one Mercedes isn’t enough. It’s cheap too!

Check the milage, then ask about timing belt changes.

Timing belt is supposed to be changed at 90k. I can't quite remember if VVTi started with '97 or' 98, but the VVTi 1UZ is an interference engine, so if that hasn't been changed and the belt goes, no more valve train.
